MAY 16TH ISOLATION EVENT - LOCKDOWN CHALLENGE
Step on Cancer was set up to promote the physical and mental benefits of completing activity during the cancer journey. Our 2020 racecourses challenge has been postponed so instead we have come up with a lockdown challenge. On Saturday 16th June we will be covering the entire distance of all the UK racecourses, all the Irish racecourses and a selection of international venues.

We have allocated over 100 courses to the participants below but its not too late to get involved. Click below to take part.

This is a child friendly challenge, we'll be doing with Mia (13) and Charlie (9) in a loop in the garden (circa 8m long). We'd also love to encourage those people in a cancer journey to take part, walking 100m would would be a huge help to us so don't let the distance put you off.

FINAL INSTRUCTIONS
Please let as many people as you can know what you are doing before Saturday and why.
The main aim is to promote the benefit of activity on mental and physical health for people going through cancer treatment (although it is great for all of us).
MacMillan and Move Against Cancer (Move Charity) are both charitable organisations that are there to help people going through cancer and recognise/promote the benefits of activity to them. If you are happy to support these charities we would love you to ask for some well earned sponsorship for your pledged distances on Saturday and please share the link as you feel able.

On the day post your photos/videos of your progress directly on to Twitter (@steponcancernow) or Facebook (@steponcancernow) or email/send them to Alistair or Laura. Remember if you can try and look for themes linked to your racecourse or Horseracing more generally.
We’ll keep these sites updated too with the racecourses you’ve ticked off, a tally of all those completed kilometres you’ve pledged and the donations you’ve raised.
The day should be a great opportunity to feel connected in these isolated times so keep checking in on how we’re doing.

Remember to nominate others to take part, we have till Saturday 23rd to cover as much distance as possible!

SUPPORT CANCER CHARITIES
50% of donations will go to MacMillan and 50% will go to Move Charity. You’ve all heard of Macmillan but I know that currently people are bring furloughed in the organisation which means that essential support is being dropped, so any support for them would be appreciated. Move Charity was founded by Gemma Hillier-Moses and inspires people (particularly younger people) to keep active as they go through and beyond treatment, one area it supports, which you may already know about, is 5k Your Way but there are many more. Gemma will be joining us on the run next week but I’d encourage you to take a look at their website and find out more (https://movecharity.org).
